The Oconee County Economic Development Commission is excited to kick-off an strategic planning process that will provide a document that will be utilized as the road map for the county’s future economic development successes.
The last strategic plan was completed in 2007. This strategic planning process is slated to take from July to November. This new five-year comprehensive economic development strategy will incorporate the following in an effort to develop and diversify the economy of Oconee County through effective and diversified partnerships, strategic investments of resources etc.: an assessment of current and past economic development plans, analysis of regional/county economic trends, identification of Oconee County’s comparative advantages and disadvantages, and the preparation and incorporate short-, medium,- and long-term initiatives.
This plan will analyze past and present efforts for efficiency and pair those successes with a new strategic plan containing new and innovative measures. Ultimately this plan will help create jobs and foster a more sustainable and diversified economy. It will serve as a mechanism for coordinating the efforts of individuals, organizations, private industry, and local government concerned with Oconee County’s economic development.
